55 Gallon Drum - MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is solvent used for thinning polyester, epoxies, vinyls, and adhesives. MEK finds use in the manufacture of plastics, textiles, in the production of parafin wax, and in household products such as lacquers, varnishes, paint removers, a denaturing agent for denatured alcohols, glues, and as a cleaning agent. MEK has similar solvent properties to acetone but boils at a higher temperature and has a significantly slower evaporation rate. MEK has a fast drying time— but not as fast as acetone
